OMG! Could Meretz Leader Zahava Gal-On Be Right?

No. Not really.

But, wait! Let's take a look at her statements below, with my comments interspersed in blue.

JPost: Israeli officials vote on new chief rabbis, after fierce campaign
Gil Hoffman, JPost.com, July 24,2013

Meretz [Party] leader Zehava Gal-On on Wednesday called the Chief Rabbinate a corrupt and nepotistic institution.
Correct! 2 Points!
Gal-On said the Chief Rabbinate is an institution that "promotes homophobia and the exclusion of women and none of the candidates intend to change this."
Correct! However, I am not so sure about the homophobia part. What has the rabbinuth done which is homophobic? By all means, point this out to me. So, for now, she receives 2 Points!
She added that the institution represented Orthodoxy and was "not interested to forward a more progressive and pluralistic Judaism."
Correct! What's her point? "Pluralism" has absolutely nothing to do with Judaism, unless, of course, she is referring to minhaggim (customs), which I seriously doubt that she is. With regard to "progress," I also doubt she is referring to the examination of new technology for incorporation into daily, Jewish life. Rather, she is referring to none other than cancelling out what SHE does not happen to like in the Torah.

For Zehava's accurate interpretation of the facts, she receives 3 Points!
Gal-On called for the need to separate religion from state in Israel, abolish the official standing of the Chief Rabbinate and cease its funding.
Correct! Well, actually, a Sanhedrin should be set up, and funding should be received directly from the people. So, for this misstep, Zehava get 1/2 point off, receiving only 1 1/2 Points!

Not bad at all! Zehava Gal-On has received an impressive 8 1/2 points out of a possible 10!

Esser Agaroth (2¢):
In order to find out more about MK Zehava Gal-On, let's take a closer look at her name.

Zehava
Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. Psalms 111:4

And, incidentally, 115 in Hebrew (קיא) is the word for vomit, quite appropriate when referring to avodah zarah (foreign/forbidden manners of worship).

Gal-on could mean "gallon" or "galvanized." But, I prefer to split her name up, like she does.

Gal

And Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar. And Jacob said unto his brethren: 'Gather stones'; and they took stones, and made a heap*. And they did eat there by the heap. Genesis 31:45-46

*forbidden after Matham Torah b'Har Sinai.

According to Morfix

So is the way of an adulterous woman; she eats, and wipes her mouth, and says: 'I have done no wickedness.' Proverbs 30:20

So Zehava Gal-On appears to be a golden heap of wickedness.

And, in case you were wondering about the above reference to "Sheretz..."

20 All winged swarming things that go upon all fours are a detestable thing unto you.

In order words, disgusting! That's Zehava Gal-On's Meretz party for you.
